Active ingredients

Lavender flowers are rich in essential oils, as well as essential compounds with acetic, valeric and other acids, lavandulol, borneol, terpene, coumarin. Lavender contains 1% to 5% essential oil. The most important of these are linalool (25% -38%) and linalyl acetate (25% -45%). They have a spasmolytic and muscle relaxant effect. They suppress the stimulatory effect of caffeine by up to 50%. Other essential oils are B-ocimen and cineole. Hydroxycoumarins – umbeliferone, herniarin, coumarin – were also found in lavender. Lavender flowers also contain antimutagenic flavonoids – luteolins, up to 12% astringent tannins. Caffeic acid and its derivatives (rosemary acid) have antioxidant, anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effects on lavender. Lavender contains bitter, phytosterols, ursolic acid, quite a lot of vitamin C, butter, Capron, ethanoic and valeric acids, ursolic acid, borneol, terpenes.
