Place dried hawthorn berries in a pot and cover with water. Bring the pot to a boil, reduce the heat and cook for another 20 minutes. Turn off the heat and let the decoction stand for a few more hours. Strain, warm slightly and enjoy before drinking.
Iced hawthorn tea
You probably haven’t tried iced hawthorn tea? It is a wonderfully refreshing drink with a unique, spicy fruity taste! This tea is easy to prepare, has a thirst-quenching effect and goes well with any meal.
To prepare tea you will need:
a few tablespoons of dried hawthorn berries (the more, the better),
sugar (to taste),
water (as much as you plan to make tea).
Add the dried hawthorn berries to a medium saucepan and cover with water. Bring everything to a boil, reduce the heat and cook for 45 minutes. When the decoction turns a rich amber color, turn off the heat. Then add sugar and stir until it dissolves. Allow the tea to cool completely. Add ice cubes to the glasses and pour the tea through a strainer. If the tea is too spicy for your taste, you can add honey.

Hawthorn is considered a safe plant. Side effects are rare and usually mild to moderate. Side effects may include sweating, headache, drowsiness, fast heartbeat, mild rash, anxiety, and gastrointestinal upset.
