When faced with hair loss or thinning, we usually do not know that there are natural and cheap remedies to solve these problems; one of such solutions is a very common medicinal herb growing in Lithuania. Horsetail is a plant that we often see in the garden as a weed, but not everyone knows that horsetail is a real medicinal plant, whose healing properties have been used by herbalists since ancient Greek times.
What does horsetail grass have in common with the most popular hair supplements? In both, one of the main components responsible for the effect is the mineral silicon. Studies with silicon have shown that it really helps with weakened hair – the use of silicon is associated with the growth of thicker and stronger hair, as it helps to supply the hair follicles (the structure of the skin from which the hair grows) and the scalp with the necessary nutrients. Silicon is also involved in the production of collagen, so the consumption of this mineral is also associated with a better condition of the skin and nails.

However, there are more differences than similarities between popular hair supplements and horsetail preparations; the biggest of them is the amount of substances we get from using these preparations. Unlike tablets and capsules, horseradish contains dozens of different active substances, which, acting together, provide a positive effect on health.
Another essential difference is that horsetail grass is a natural product that, unlike various capsules and tablets, does not contain any synthetic impurities or auxiliary substances. Ground horsetails grow all over Lithuania, so you can pick them and dry them yourself; even if you do not want to collect this herb yourself or do not distinguish it from others – horsetail herb can be purchased from herbalists, where this herb costs significantly less than any preparations for strengthening hair.

If you have noticed that your hair is weakening or you just want better-looking skin – use horsetail grass tea, which is very easy to make – you just need to pour 3 teaspoons of dried horsetail grass with a glass (about 200ml) of boiling water and keep it for 10-15 minutes; it is recommended to drink such tea up to 3 times a day.

In case of inflammation of the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat, it is recommended to rinse the mouth with the following infusion: pour 1 tablespoon of raw material into 1 glass of cold boiled water and keep for 1 day.

A mixture of horsetail powder and boiled water (30-50 g of grass per 1 liter of water) effectively helps with diarrhea and irregular periods. Take 150 ml in the morning and evening.

The decoction strengthens the heart, is useful for those with cholesterol on the walls of blood vessels: pour 4 tablespoons of the herb with 1 glass of boiling water, heat in a hot water bath for 15 minutes, leave to infuse for 45 minutes, strain and add water so that there is as much liquid as at the very beginning. Take 0.5 cups 3 times a day. The recipe is extremely useful for people of respectable age.

If the tooth hurts: rinse your mouth with a warm decoction, trying not to spit it out for a long time. Change the fluid 3-5 times in 15-30 minutes.

For hemorrhoids: pour 2 teaspoons of chopped raw material into 200 ml of boiling water, wait an hour for it to absorb, strain. Drink everything in a few sips a day.

For kidney stones: pour 1 teaspoon of the herb in 200 boiling water, leave to infuse for 20 minutes. Drink in the morning 30 minutes before breakfast. The duration of the treatment course is 2-3 months (without breaks). After about a month, the severe pains will disappear, and after the same time, you will notice that the sand starts to come out in the urine.
